System - Artifact Management |
Malaysia National Museum will be the first museum in the region to implement a sophisticated Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) system such as the Solmate™ RFID Artifact Management and Tracking System
to manage and track their artifacts. The Director of Natural History of the Museums said that this high degree
of automation will further enhance museum’s existing artifacts management
system with the necessary controls and security features leveraging on workflow,
imaging, RFID and other related technologies.

Solmate™ RFID Artifact Management and Tracking System (EAMS)
marks a major milestone for the deployment of RFID technology in Malaysia
as well as in the region.
National Museum uses the HF ( High Frequency 13.56 Mhz ) RFID Technology for all their artifacts. All the
artifacts are tags with a specialised RFID Tag suited for the surface and types of artifacts. Selected Information
will be loaded to the RFID Tags to provide more details and identification to the items for further use. The
information would be very useful as when the artifacts are moves from location to location and to go through
any conservation processes or maintenance. An RFID Reader is located at the vault AREA to control the
movement of the artifacts. For Item Search & Stock take, A mobile RFID
readers are used to locate the items at the storage rack as well as exhibition
areas. The Solmate™ application provide a working flow for museum
to manage and register artifacts. All request & loans required by other museum
communities will have to go through the system for approval process
and circulation. All artifacts can be viewed via the system and request
online. The Solmate™ system is fully integrated with other Museum system. |
